Episode Summary

In this exciting season premiere, TK takes us on a journey to the Mongolian Empire, challenging misconceptions and providing much-needed context. We learn that the Mongolian Empire was not simply a realm of bloodthirsty conquerors but a complex civilization with its own unique characteristics. From religious tolerance to the establishment of an international postal system, the Mongolians left a profound impact on history.

Our focus then shifts to Töregene, a woman of mystery who emerged from the Merkit tribe and found herself in a tumultuous situation after her village was destroyed. Becoming the wife of Ögedei, one of Genghis Khan's sons, Töregene's life takes an unexpected turn. Ögedei is a garbage human and kind of sucks at his job. He was more focused on his abnormally large wine chalice than ruling the largest contiguous empire in history. This allows Töregene to step forward, wielding power from behind the scenes and implementing reforms.

As Töregene gains more influence, she cunningly manipulates the political landscape, delaying the succession vote for years until her son,
Güyük can ascend to power. Töregene’s rise to empress is marked by her ruthless determination, even resorting to extreme measures such as making her enemies eat rocks. Throughout this period, she finds an unwavering ally in Fatima, a woman who holds a special place by Torjeen's side, and PS they’re totally in LOVE!!!

But what happens to our two star-crossed lovers? Will they pull a Romeo and Juliet? Or will forces beyond their control wrench then apart? You’ll just have to listen to find out!
